INCIRCULAR – INtegrating Cybernated Innovation to Raise the scale of Circular Units Looping Allied Regions

The European INCIRCULAR project - INtegrating Cybernated Innovation to Raise the Scale of Circular Units Looping Allied Regions - funded by Horizon Europe's I3 (Interregional Innovation Instrument) program began on October 1, 2023 and will run for 3 years.

The INCIRCULAR project aims to unleash the innovation potential of three European regions in the plastics circular economy, thanks in particular to a cascade funding system. Indeed, innovative solutions are needed to produce new types of environmentally-friendly plastics, while offering technical properties and costs similar to those of petro-sourced plastics currently on the market.

INCIRCULAR brings together three regional ecosystems with complementary capabilities to carry out the technological scale-up (TRL 6 to 9) of a unique process implemented by the TECOS technical center in Slovenia, while using technologies made available by the Spanish and French partners . The aim is to produce plastic products made from 100% recycled plastic, 100% recyclable and with technical properties similar or superior to those of current plastics... This material will be directly integrated into the production chain at the Gorenje (Slovenia) industrial site, in collaboration with Omaplast, which will collect, sort and recycle it on site. Project information

The INCIRCULAR project is funded by the European Union, under the I3-2021-INV2a call, with a total budget of around 4.28 million euros over 3 years. The project is coordinated by TECOS - Razvojni center orodjarstva Slovenije, and involves 7 other European partners, including Polymeris and 2 cluster members: SIMCON and SISE.

The project partners met on October 25 and 26, 2023 in Celje, Slovenia, for the kick-off meeting. Consortium members were able to visit the facilities of TECOS, the project coordinator and host of this Kick Off Meeting.
